TozziniFreire is among the firms with the highest number of women working on M&A transactions in Brazil

May 03, 2024

The Women Leaders in M&A report, produced by TTR and iDeals platforms, shows the professionals who stood out in the transactional market last year

Brazil, the largest transactional market in Latin America, has seen important changes in its business dynamics, notably the increase in female participation in major deals.

The volume of female participation in the mergers and acquisitions market grew slightly (around 0.5%) in 2023, when compared to the previous year, according to data from the latest report, produced by Transactional Track Record (TTR) and iDeals.

In line with its diversity programs and corporate values, which seek to promote gender equality at all hierarchical levels, TozziniFreire has followed this movement and proven this trend by increasing the number of women playing a leading role in transactional areas, especially M&A.

In a challenging year for the transactional market, partner Carla do Couto Hellu Battilana and associate Julia Helena Sampaio ranked among the 10 most active professionals in transactions in 2023, according to the report.

The most relevant cases these professionals have worked on include the sale of PerkinElmer's analytics, food, and business services businesses to New Mountain Capital for BRL 2.3 billion; and the acquisition, by McCain do Brasil, of 51% of the shareholders’ capital of the non-operational holding company TPZ Participações.
