NCM 2917.12.10
On March 31, 2026, SECEX/MDIC Circular No. 24/2026 initiated a review to determine the likelihood of continuation or recurrence of dumping in exports of adipic acid (hexanedioic acid) from Germany, China, the United States of America, France, and Italy to Brazil, and its effects on the domestic industry.
An antidumping measure was in effect against Germany, China, the United States of America, France, and Italy between March 31, 2021, and March 31, 2026. The petition requesting the review was filed by the company Rhodia Brasil S.A., the only domestic manufacturer of adipic acid.
Adipic acid is used in the production of polyester polyols for polyurethanes and, according to Rhodia, is a component in coatings that provide adhesion, hardness, gloss, and flexibility, as well as resistance to impact, weathering, and chemical agents. The compound is also employed in the preparation of dioctyl adipate (DOA) and serves as the primary feedstock for nylon salt.
The analysis of the likelihood of continuation or recurrence of dumping covered the period from July 2024 to June 2025, while the injury analysis covered the period from July 2020 to June 2025. For Germany, China, the United States of America, France, and Italy, it was considered that the domestic industry"s ex-factory price would be comparable to the normal value on a landed CIF basis. In the case of China, the normal value was established based on the price of the like product in a third market economy country, with the United States of America being the country adopted as the reference.
